Have you ever heard anything so outrageous? It is also antisemitic in that it suggests that Judaism is nothing more than a negative reaction to Christianity rather than a world religion in its own right. However, more is to come.
Continuing on the same page, "The desire to become recognised as 'a denomination of Judaism standing alongside orthodox, conservative, reformed (sic) and Reconstructionist Judaism' is a misguided one. Our aspiration should be to replace these versions of Jewishness, not to stand alongside them."
In other words to replace Judaism with Christianity. Why not just say that? The result will be "Christian Jewishness"! This guy's duplicity knows no limits.
However (p.8), "In areas where Judaism is not in conflict with true Jewishness (i.e. 'Christianity' - my comment), Judaism is a legitimate and necessary means whereby Jews express their ongoing Jewish identity. As such, Judaism is absolutely necessary to Jewish Christianity. This should be recognised, not as a hypocritical put-on or a mere gimmick serving to mask an inherent lack of identity, but as the natural expression of the deepest feelings of our hearts."
Oh yeh - right.
At the time when this was written the IMJA's Constitution was so obviously racist that it was forced to tone it down. At that time the IMJA's Constitution defined "Jew" in exactly the same way that Nazi German "race" legislation formerly defined "Jew". I am proud to say that I helped the IMJA to change by constantly publicising its racism (they of course deny my role in the process, but then they would, wouldn't they?).
Contrary to what Mr. Maoz claims in his paper, Judaism is _not_ absolutely necessary to "Jewish Christianity". A Christian who, say, eats gefilte fish is still a Christian who eats gefilte fish. It does not make him/her a Jew (as in Nazi Germany, the IMJA defines as "Jewish" certain individuals who NO Jewish authority would accept as Jews, e.g. persons with only a single Jewish grandfather). The only thing without which "Jewish Christianity" can never survive is the myth of "Jewish race". The IMJA knows this, which is why they only toned down their racist Constitution rather than eliminating their racial discrimination altogether.
It baffles me that so many Christians are happy to sit on their hands
whilst some of their fellow Christians continue to promote a "race" myth
that caused Jews generally such grief in the recent past. Have they no
conscience? Has the message of the Holocaust still not penetrated their
closed minds? It sure makes one wonder.
